A:Lake Ikeda
Lake Ikeda is a caldera, which formed when Ikeda Volcano exploded and collapsed. It is the Largest Lake in Kyushu Island and its maximum depth is 233m. It is also famous for the purported Sightings of a monster named Issie.
B:Flower Park Kagoshima
On the way to Nagasakibana, you’ll see Flower Park Kagoshima. It has many kinds of flowers from all over the world and you can enjoy them all through the year. It also offers events and animal shows, and you never want to miss them!
C:Gravestones of the Imaizumishimazu Family
The successive lords of Ibusuki area were buried in this graveyard. Above-mentioned Atsuhime was from this family.
D:Nagashakibana
It is located on the southernmost part of the Satsuma Peninsula, and is said to have become a cape Which was a small volcano eroded by sea water.
E:Mount Kaimon
It is a basal stratovolcano and rises 924 meters above sea level. It represents Kagoshima like Mt.Sakurajima does. It is also known as the “Fuji of Satsuma” and is a symbol of South Kagoshima.
F:Chiran Peace Museum for Kamikaze Pilots
At the end of World War Ⅱ more than 1000 young Kamikaze pilots(air-force suicide pilots) flew from this place, the former Chiran air-force base. The museum’s photos, exhibits, and films gave a Very positive image of Kamikaze pilots as brave young men with great patriotism and love for their families.
G:Chiran Samurai Residence Garden
Samurai residence gardens in Chiran have carefully preserved. This district is nationally designated as a Preservation District for Historic Buildings. The residences are located along the delightful streets, which are intentionally narrow high-walled to prevent the attack of invaders.
H:Bonotsu Rias Coast
Owing to its rias coast, Bonotsu flourished as a trading port during the Edo era and even the Asuka era. It is also well-known as the place where Ganjin first arrived after his long voyages across the East China Sea to Japan.
I:Fukiagehama Kaihin Park
It’s a broad park expended at the mouth of Manose river, and Located at the end of Fukiagehama beach which is one of the three longest white sand beaches in Japan. The bridge built over the river is beautiful against the sky of the sunset.
